Sample Project
(More document samples below.)
Goal
Capture and document all the organizational processes of a 30-year-old company and enter them into a new document control system.
Approach
Conducted interviews and business process mapping with key department personnel to capture level-1 processes and associated touch points with other departments. (See Business Process Mapping project.)
The level-1 processes were then broken down into actionable sub-processes. I interviewed Subject Matter Experts to capture the necessary actions for performing each step/task. This information was then used to create the appropriate documentation.
If necessary, Supplier, Input, Process, Output, and Customer (SIPOC) exercises were conducted to help the SMEs better understand their end-to-end processes and to break down those processes into finer details.
Results
The project was an incredible eye-opener for the organization and a great project for me. We were able to get all departments involved and work together, especially for processes that touched more than one department.
The documentation created and associated training provided the organization with easily accessible, approved processes, which allowed for consistent, repeatable implementation by each employee.
Additionally, on-the-job training improved because all employees were trained the same way, using the same approved and tested materials.
